Good Morning from the Office of Dyersburg Cumberland Presbyterian Church!
We are in the
process of “updating” all of our information to the 21st Century. lol We have a twitter account, facebook page and now a blog to share all of our events and such with the world.
A little bit about us:
We are a body of believers with diverse gifts who have a mutual love for God and one another. Our purpose is discipleship through teaching of God’s Word, nurture of fellow Christians, service to God’s kingdom, and a proclamation of God’s sovereignty.
We hav
e a caring, competent, and service-oriented staff who are committed to Christ. Rev. Larry Blakeburn became the pastor of our church on August 1, 2001. Prior to his move to Dyersburg, he was president of Memphis Theological Seminary, our denominations only graduate school of theology. Dr. Blakeburn has over twenty years of pastoral experience having served churches in Fort Worth, Texas and Nashville, Tennessee.
Our
Youth program is under the leadership of Matt Tyler. With Matt’s guidance, we have exciting ministries for our Jr. High and Senior High youth, so your children will have a great time while learning Christian principles. Our youth leaders are skilled at helping young people feel welcomed and loved as well as challenging them to learn. This ministry is a primary strength of our church and continues to expand.
Annetta Camp is our Director of Christian Education. She
is responsible for the educational and recreational opportunities for our children and adults. We have excellent nurseries and loving childcare providers at First Cumberland.
Brad San
ko is in charge of our Music Ministry. Our music ministry offers opportunities for involvement in Chancel Choir, Youth Choir, God’s Kids Choir, Carol Choir, Handbell Choirs, cantatas, Christian drama productions, and other musical venues.
Kathy Vickery and Robyn Burns manage our church office. Those friendly voices you hear when you call the Dyersburg Cumberland Church are indicative of the genuine love of our church. Our office staff members strive to assist everyone with their daily needs and attend to the administrative responsibilities of the church. Moreover, they achieve this monumental task with grace.
